Greetings! I have been contemplating and feeling a call from Costa Rica for years now. It was not until three months ago when I conceived my first baby that I felt the intense fire to respond to the calling. I am now a single young, pregnant lady who wishes to thrive in an environment that is supportive of nurturing oneself and others. I have experience and a gift for working with plants and children as well as movement and other creative endevours that are not as developed as the first mentioned. I have studied herbalism and children's yoga and recently ended a job teaching after school to K-5th grades. I was teaching 8 different classes consisting of cooking, chess, mask making, art, drama, rhythm and dance, likable recyclables and stitchin'. I am hoping to meet a community or individuals to share with or join. Ideally I will find a spot close to the ocean and ecologically minded, where parents and children live close together supporting each other. A community/ group of supportive people is no longer a simple desire, but a necessity as I am now pregnant and single. I could work in a garden, with an herbalist, as a teacher or in various other positions. I have never been to Costa Rica and am not sure where to begin searching for a new home beyond seeking community. Any information applicable to a potential community to join, a job to work, a place to live, etc. is greatly appreciated. Thank you and many blessings.

Re: Intentions of moving to Costa Rica- seeking connections
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 2:37 PMHi, not sure where your path leads but it has crossed mine here and through my research of possibilities in C.R. I offer this link as a possibility for you to consider. www.omroots.org/
I have other community connections but this seemed right.

Re: Intentions of moving to Costa Rica- seeking connections
Thu, March 20, 2008 - 6:37 AMGreetings emptycloud. Thank you for responding to my call. I have looked at the site and find it beautiful though I am feel it may be smaller and more isolated than I hope for. Regardless of my ego(getting in the way of being entirely open to what spirit needs), I intend to contact them.
Blessings

Re: Intentions of moving to Costa Rica- seeking connections
Thu, January 29, 2009 - 11:23 AMI am now in Playa Hermosa, a bit south of Jaco .... there is a lot of land for sale in CR, but is also the most expensive place i have visited in Central America ....
i hear that is getting very hard to get a permanent residence status here ...
The land is beautiful, beaches are great (but hot during the days), people seem more laid back, at times reminds me of USA, one can find a few of the Big USA business here .... lots of people from the USA, Argentina, Venezuela, Europe, and of course, a few people from Israel
Seems i will go to Panama next ... many have told me that is 1/2 of CR .....

Re: Intentions of moving to Costa Rica- seeking connections
Fri, January 30, 2009 - 12:19 PMCR is beautiful, but is not only where _i want_ to live, is where _i can_ live .... is hard to get permanent resident status in CR these days ... it seems one needs now a $300,000 investment (or to get married there with a CR national, or to have a child there, but these options could become more expensive if one is not careful : )
i seen that there is a reforestation program in Panama that will allow one to stay with a $40,000 investment in land that would need to be planted with trees, like Teak ... there is info about this in the inet .... but i feel one needs to be there to really see ... that will be my next move -
